Resolved Question: How can our daughter get Australian Citizenship?

Our daughter who is 55 has moved to Australia to be near us. Husband Alzheimers 84 and myself 75 - 24'/.7 carer. We have other family in NZ but they cannot move here. She has been here 5 years now, has her own mortgage free home, and works in aged care having paid to get the Australian qualifications to do so. She is a permanent employee. She desperately wants to become a citizen as has no intentions of returning to NZ. She is divorced, has no children. How long does she have to wait to become a citizen, or is this impossible. It does seem so wrong really that she cannot become one. She has an extended family over here of half sisters and brothers, and they are all very close. We became citizens of this lovely country in 2001 and would love to see her dream come true. My 82 year old sister who has also joined us wishes to do the same, and she has been here 5 years also, and cant seem to make it. Is there anyone out there who can help us with this problem. All sites we go on, seem to have so much conflicting information. We are on the Gold Coast. What is citizenship by conferral, is this an option? Thankyou. Thankyoou have checked out all details on that site many times, so much conflicting information as I said. All I would like to know really is, can they become citizens after being here 5 years, or how many years? Or perhaps never who knows.... Read More »
